Ari Jamieson is a lighting designer and master electrician in the theater department here at Snow College. She started her college career at Snow College back in 2013 with a focus on theatre. This is where her love for lighting design started, her first realized design was Wait Until Dark and she was hooked.
She continued her education at Southern Utah University with a focus on lighting design, upon graduating she came back to Snow to teach as an adjunct professor and work in the shop as a master electrician and scenic charge artist. After a year and a half of working with the theatre department, she decided that she needed to further her education and got accepted into the University of Texas at Austin’s Live Design and Production program to get her MFA in Lighting Design. She graduated in May 2023 with her MFA and she returned to Snow with new insight and knowledge and is eager to get the theatre lighting department back on its feet.
Recent productions she has worked on are Utah Opera and Symphony’s production of La Boheme as Assistant Lighting Designer and as a production assistant at the 2023 LDI trade show and conference. When asked about how lighting can be considered an art form she answered simply “I spin wavelengths into technicolor tapestries”.
