The Utah State Legislature has provided additional funding to both Utah Works and Custom Fit to provide new, short-term training programs across the state. Many individuals are currently unemployed, underemployed, or working in a vulnerable position due to the impacts of COVID-19. Thanks to this funding, these short-term training programs will be tuition-free and will allow individuals to re-enter or upgrade to more stable positions in the workforce.

By earning your Composite Technician certification at Snow College, you’ll be ready for an exciting career with endless possibility for growth.
This certificate is designed to take approximately one semester; however, students can complete this certificate as quickly as they can show competency in the required coursework.
This course is designed to train students to be able to obtain jobs as CNC (computer numerical control) woodworking operators. The topic to be covered include: learning the basic operation and functions of the CNC machine; how to import files to the CNC machine; design and build cabinets, furniture, spindles; and more. Many of the skills learned in this class will transfer to other CNC operation types, such as plasma cutting, water jet cutting, metal work, etc.
This is an intensive course in pre-hospital emergency care that complies with the National EMS Education Standards and Utah State Bureau of Emergency Medical Services for EMTs. Students successfully completing this course may be eligible for state certification as an EMT. There are 130-150 hours of class, 10 hours of clinical in a hospital and ambulance association, and approximately 15 hours of patient assessments (100) required of each student. This document is available from the instructor. If students have questions about their ability to complete the coursework necessary to certify as an EMT, they should obtain the document and determine their eligibility before registering for the course.
The Certificate of Proficiency in GIS is a 16-credit program that consists of 5 three-credit courses and 1 one-credit course that will provide students with the skills and knowledge to find employment as a GIS technician or supplement their resume to increase employability in their field or to skill-up for employer needs. The courses can be completed while working. The certificate is stackable. Students with GIS certificate could continue in this field to complete a BS or MS in GIS. The certificate is available wholly online. The courses can be taken by traditional students as part of their normal semester course load. The certificate can be completed in two semesters. Students must complete the first 9 credits (GEO 1700, 1800, 2850) fall semester in order to qualify for tuition for the remaining classes (GEO 1820, 2845, 2900) spring semester. Tuition, books, software are all provided by the program at no cost to the student. GPS units and computers are available to loan at no cost.
Designed to increase worksite safety, this program provides simulator training for heavy equipment used in the construction field. Operators will train on simulators to develop real-world skills needed to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Badges may be earned in forklift, excavator, dozer, backhoe, wheel loader, motor grader, articulated dump truck, concrete pump truck, mobile crane, and CDL. Students may earn multiple badges. While the coursework will be completed online, students need to be available to train on the simulators on the Ephraim campus. Students will work with the instructor to schedule simulator time.
